The Physician Well-being Committee is a group of active staff members responsible for assisting impaired physicians or other medical staff in getting appropriate help. These committees, which are established in each service area, have an advisory and support role, not a disciplinary function. Physician impairment is defined by the American Medical Association as being unable to practice medicine with reasonable skill and safety because of illness or excessive use or abuse of drugs, including alcohol. If you or a colleague you know needs assistance, contact a committee member. Visit SCPMG Physician Portal for names of your local Physician Well-being Committee members.
